POLE DANCE COURSES

Basic, intermediate and advanced pole dance courses for adults and children in Florence.

Colonna Pole & Postural © ASD is the leading centre for learning pole dance in Florence.

Our pole dance courses are divided by age group and are open to women and men.

Junior: 714 years

Teens: 15–18 Anni

Adults: 19 years and up

A basic amateur pole dance course can be done at any age since the lessons include a whole series of preparatory exercises for strengthening, stretching and flexibility. These allow everyone, at no physical risk, to practice the fundamental elements of this sporting and artistic discipline. They also help improve posture, physical tone and even self-esteem.

Our pole dance students have not just benefited physically, but discovered or rediscovered many things about themselves. Our courses have pushed them to be more curious, to rediscover their femininity. They have felt the need to express themselves, to overcome their limits. They have realised their need for self-esteem and been pushed to search for it.

"Never move the soul without the body, nor the body without the soul, so that by defending each other, the two parts maintain their balance and their health.” – Plato

AERIAL GYMNASTICS COURSES

Corsi Aerial Gym Kids Metodo Pole&Postural©

Thanks to our experience, at Colonna Pole & Postural © ASD we have developed a comprehensive and completely original teaching method for aerial gymnastics for children. It covers everything from psychomotor skills to technical, creative and choreographic management of equipment.

Our aerial gymnastics for children teaches them to have fun while spinning, strengthening their bodies and minds, giving them flexibility and elasticity and preparing them for the moment they decide, on their own, which discipline to pursue. If they do, they can go on to all levels of acrobatic and artistic discipline. But, as always with children, it's essential they can have fun, with other children, in total safety. The real prize is seeing them smile.

Pole & Postural © method

Iliana Ciccarello chose the name Pole & Postural © for her pole dance academy, a school where athletes train for sporting and artistic pole dancing competitions, where students can grow, improve or simply keep fit while having fun. It's a place where different types of acrobatic dance are experimented with and where specific athletic training forms the basis of every discipline. A school where instructors are trained to pass on to the students the passion and art of their sport. There is so much more behind the name, though. Our approach has been tested in the field, not only with athletes but with children and adults of all ages and levels of physical ability. From this experience, a new method of teaching this discipline has come to life, based on posture and above all on attention for detail; every single movement, every exercise is broken down and studied from every angle, then broken down and adapted in practice for every individual student.

There's another essential point Iliana Ciccarello is always keen to emphasize when she explains her great passion for teaching: "Everyone is unique and special, and the skill of a teacher lies in understanding what makes every student so, helping them work on their difficulties but focusing on their strengths at the same time, so they can express their full potential. The best part of my job is seeing people's self-esteem grow as they strive to push their limits. Women embarrassed about their own bodies, gradually convincing themselves it's more practical to keep their skin uncovered to hold on to the pole better, no longer afraid to show their bodies, rediscovering that they're beautiful while performing choreography that's completely in harmony with music.”

Iliana shares the other fundamental part of her method: choreography and interpretation. Right from the start, we focus not only on the technical aspect of the figure, but also on combining the various tricks harmoniously with music. At the same time, the interpretative aspect can change according to the chosen music and the emotions you want to convey.

In conclusion, the main purpose of our teaching approach is to take care of all these aspects at the same time, placing the same importance on each, because being rigorous and precise is essential when you're learning the basics. As Iliana likes to say: "Just as it's essential to know the letters of the alphabet to learn to express yourself fully in writing, it's equally essential to have full control of your body to freely and fully express your creativity.”

Who is Iliana Ciccarello?

Iliana Ciccarello has an eclectic personality that makes her stand out on the Italian and international scene as a performer, instructor, choreographer, coach, athlete and trainer of "pole sport and art” according to the Pole & Postural © method that she herself thought up, created, passed on and patented with SIAE.

Her teaching method is aimed at both male and female audiences, for adults, teenagers and children, amateurs and professionals, all of whom she has coached for years. Since she was a little girl, she has been passionate about sports, and used to play volleyball. In 2010 she discovered pole dance, practiced and really explored the sport that went on, in 2013, to become her job. She opened her academy (then called the Pole & Postural Academy, now Colonna Pole & Postural © ASD) put her teaching method to paper and started competing all over the world.

Today she is Italian champion in both pairs and singles, European and world champion ("master” category) and dedicates her whole life to this wonderful art.

By teaching children, she found the best way to teach adults effectively. Being very attentive to the female universe, she developed a strong aptitude for teaching self-esteem, determination and resilience through body language.

In a nutshell, Iliana Ciccarello is driven by two great loves, sport and art, and it's in those fields that she has shaped herself, as an instructor, athlete, coach and artist – an artistic athlete, but also an athletic artist.

In aerial silk, you use your arms and legs to climb and your core to maintain stability in the various poses, inversions and falls.

  • What clothing do I have to wear?

You should wear comfortable clothing for this discipline. Sports tops and shorts must leave the body free and uncovered, so it holds on to the pole better.
