Art and events

Compagnia Colonna is part of Colonna Pole & Postural © ASD, a pole dance academy in Florence founded by Iliana Ciccarello.

A reference point in Italy for pole sports and acrobatic arts in general, pole dance is a sport combining dance and artistic gymnastics. It involves making acrobatic figures on a vertical pole. Compagnia Colonna are an exciting team, which the judges of Italia's Got Talent 2020 have defined as art. Compagnia brings poetic, evocative, exciting and engaging performances to audiences all over the world. The team of girls are coordinated by Iliana Ciccarello, head coach at Colonna Pole & Postural © ASD in Florence, an athlete and instructor with a long and rich sporting career behind her, and an expert artistic choreographer for Compagnia Colonna. For the evocative and extreme performances we bring to the stage, we're the ideal artistic partner for bringing life to events, conventions, public performances and cultural events, in open or closed spaces.

Entertainment and art

Compagnia Colonna is the culmination of a project that had been knocking about in Iliana Ciccarello's head for some time. The opportunity to bring the group to life came on the occasion of the auditions for Italia's Got Talent. It was a huge effort that marked a stage on an even more ambitious path that had already begun some time ago, that of building a meeting place for art lovers of every stripe, to open Teatro Colonna, a place to watch shows while dining, where all artistic languages can take shape and express themselves, and where Compagnia Colonna finds its natural home. Here, in honor of Teatro Colonna, the company got its name, the "column” also standing for the people who form the backbone of Pole & Postural © ASD. The six athletes who performed at the Italia's Got Talent auditions were Alessandra Boni, Aurora Tieri, Martina Storti, Emma Poli, Francesca Prini and Fiammetta Orsini, who were joined by Giada Checchi, Monia Baldi Galleni in the finals. In constructing the choreographies for the two performances, Iliana Ciccarello has searched for athletes, and will add more performers, like Gianluca Marcato, for example, in the future, to give the public something new. The definition of this is art, something that goes beyond the limits set until now. The goal is to make art come to life through the pole, to take the pole out of competition of any kind and to make it a contemporary art exhibition. In the final of Italia's Got Talent we wanted to try to build something that went beyond horizons, increasing the height of the poles and the number of athletes, managing at the same time eight bodies that become one, with a single breath. Although the eight performers are physically beautiful, what the audience overwhelmingly perceived was not their sensuality but the purely artistic aspect of the performance.

The Italia's Got Talent experience was wonderful but hard, because we faced it with a large group of different ages and different lifestyles. Some of us were studying, some working, and not just as pole dance teachers. But all that effort set us off on a path that can only continue, taking Compagnia Colonna to the Italian and international stages, with artistic performances and choreographies that are always new and exciting.

Today Compagnia Colonna stands out as the spearhead of an artistic project that finds its fulfillment in complete shows, to be performed on stages of all kinds, from TV to theatres, stages for special events, cultural and entertainment contexts, like big conventions.
